Julie joined Alliant Insurance Services in 2021, and is responsible for providing comprehensive risk control and safety consulting services to Alliant clients. Julie utilizes her significant expertise of over 25 years of combined experience in both public and private sectors, to effectively assist clients in enhancing their occupational safety and health programs, and in reducing their overall cost of risk.
Prior to joining Alliant, Julie was employed by PMA Companies as a Strategic Risk Control Consultant for both public and private sectors. In addition, Julie has 10 years of experience as a municipal Safety & Risk Manager, overseeing the following programs: property & liability, workers’ compensation, return to work, drug & alcohol testing, OSHA training and compliance, fitness for duty, policy development, Commercial Driver License (CDL) compliance, public transit systems, airports, water and electric utilities. Julie also facilitated initiatives for safety committees and accident review boards.
During her career, Julie served as a Petty Officer in the United States Navy in Iceland and Spain, specializing in the aviation field to include air operations, aircraft handling, launch and recovery of aircraft, refueling, firefighting, and rescue operations. Following her military career, Julie worked in the textile industry in various manufacturing roles such as: Assistant Plant Manager, Safety & Risk Manager, Production Manager, and Human Resources Director. During her tenure in manufacturing, Julie was responsible for safety and risk management programs for five manufacturing facilities.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety & Health and a Masters of Business Administration in Public Administration from Columbia Southern University, where she is also currently working toward her Doctorate Degree in Business Administration. In addition, Julie is a graduate of the Public Executive Leadership Academy (PELA) – University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill – School of Government.
As a previous municipal Safety & Risk Manager and former NC PRIMA Board Member, Julie brings a unique perspective in providing comprehensive Risk Control services to her public entity clients.
Julie holds the following designations: Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional (CWCP), and Manager of Environmental Safety and Health Programs (MESH). Additionally, she is an experienced safety trainer.
Julie is an engaging public speaker and has spoken at various safety and risk management conferences, seminars, and focus groups, as well as university settings to students pursuing careers in risk management or insurance industry fields.
