What’s Next for Qualified Immunity?
Description
State and federal legislature are grappling with how qualified immunity should apply in a manner that is fair to all sides, including private citizens, police officers and other government officials. We will discuss recent reforms and case law developments and the current state of efforts to reform qualified immunity. We will also explore how public entities can control their exposure given that they overwhelmingly pick up the tab for Section 1983 lawsuits and similar claims under state law, if immunity does not apply.
