The past year has left employees reeling, as they’ve dealt with the stresses of illness, death, civil unrest, isolation and numerous uncertainties. Depression, anxiety, crippling fear and other mental health issues have sky rocketed, especially for essential workers, and it is crucial that these challenges are addressed and not ignored. Critical incidence stress debriefing has been around for over a decade, but recently it has re-emerged as a tool for employers who are facing a number of challenges in our current climate. This proactive program helps employees who have witnessed or experienced a catastrophic or traumatic event process the situation, work through the hurdles and develop coping mechanisms to return to work as quickly as possible.
